Of all the pictures of submarines leaving Pearl, we thought that these two captured the moment best; a solitary woman stands on a sea wall at the mouth of the Pearl Harbor channel waving Aloha to her loved one while in the other, a small group of wives and dependent children gather to watch as a Los Angeles Class submarine, carrying their husbands and fathers, moves down the channel toward its diving point, Papa Hotel. Surely there are many of you wives, dependents and girlfriends who have actually lived these moments yourselves, caught on thie submarine plaque, as your husbands, dads and boyfriends left Pearl Harbor for the unknown, for untold lengths of time.
